The SA80, or Small Arms for the 1980s, is a series of 5.56×45mm NATO firearms utilized by the British Army. The L85 Rifle variant has served as the standard issue service rifle for the British Armed Forces since 1987, succeeding the L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle. Prototypes were developed in 1976, with the A1 variant's production spanning from 1985 to 1994. The A2 variant emerged following a substantial upgrade by Heckler & Koch in the early 2000s and is still in use as of 2023. The A3 variant, introduced in 2018, features several enhancements.

The SA80 family also includes the L86 Light Support Weapon, the compact L22 Carbine, and the L98 Cadet rifle.

The SA80 represents the final lineage of British arms, including the Lee–Enfield series, produced by the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield Lock, which ceased operations in 1988.
